Having both played an integral role in the growth and success of Bluebell, James and Stephen bring a wealth of experience, knowledge and passion to their roles as Directors.
Stephen has been part of the Bluebell team for over 20 years, while James has spent the past 10 years learning and developing within the business. Having worked closely alongside the companies founders, Mike and Alison throughout this time, they have gained an in-depth understanding of every aspect of the company and the values that have helped establish Bluebell as a trusted name in the luxury bespoke furniture market.
Together, James and Stephen are committed to building on the strong foundations created by Mike and Alison, maintaining Bluebell’s reputation for exceptional quality, innovative design and outstanding customer care. With a shared passion for the business and a clear vision for its future, they are proud to lead Bluebell into its next chapter while continuing to uphold the standards and values that have made the company what it is today.
Mike and Alison founded Bluebell and spent over 30 years building the business into a name synonymous with luxury bespoke furniture, exceptional design and outstanding customer care. Their passion, knowledge and commitment to maintaining the highest standards have been at the heart of Bluebell’s success from the very beginning.
In 2023, Mike and Alison passed the day-to-day running of Bluebell on to James and Stephen, who now lead the business and continue to build on the strong foundations and reputation they created.
While technically retired, Mike and Alison remain an important part of Bluebell as Non-Executive Directors, continuing to offer their experience, guidance and industry knowledge behind the scenes. They remain incredibly proud of everything Bluebell has achieved and continue to take a keen interest in the future of the business they built.
Director
With over 10 years experience, James oversees all design and sales processes, bringing precision and creative insight to every project. He studied Product Design (BA) at Nottingham Trent University, giving him a strong foundation in considered, functional design.
Director
With over 20 years experience, Stephen leads our surveying process, working closely with clients to review plans and ensure every detail is considered. He studied Product Design (BA) at the University of Wales Institute Cardiff, where he developed technical knowledge and practical experience.
Designer
Charles is one of our talented designers, coming from a background in Product Design (BA) from Sheffield Hallam University, he combines his creativity with a practical approach to create spaces that are both stylish and functional, while bringing all aspects of the room together.
Designer
Arran has a degree in Interior Design (BA) from Manchester Metropolitan University. He brings a methodical approach to every project which he developed through his experience designing kitchens, combining careful planning with creative thinking to create considered, practical spaces.
Factory Manager
John is Bluebell's Factory Manager & along with his team of Cabinet Makers/Fitters has been with Bluebell since we started in 1992. He is known as 'Mr Bluebell' and his vast spectrum of knowledge and skill has helped take us where we are today. John has a 'can do' attitude & relishes customer challenges especially with their awkward spaces!
Assistant Factory Manager
JJ joined us as an apprentice in 2011 and has since developed into becoming an integral part of the factory on a daily basis. His dedication to the company has allowed him to progress to the role of Assistant Factory Manager, where he oversees the manufacturing process as well taking charge of any remedials to ensure our aftercare service runs smoothly.
Company Mascot
Employee of the MonthWhen he's not busy modelling for the likes of Aldi or Amazon, Dennis kindly steps in as Bluebell's company mascot. He even fought off tough com-paw-tition to win the Which? Trusted Trader – Best Mascot 2018 award, for which his parents are immensely proud.

Yes — our showroom is at 81-83 Washway Road, Sale, Cheshire M33 7TQ. The standout feature is The Apartment, installed across the first floor of the building: walk through a beautifully decorated kitchen, bedroom, bar, living area and media room, all built and installed by our own team.
Yes — our design consultations are free and carry no obligation. We talk through your room, take measurements where needed, and prepare CAD designs and 3D renders as part of the process. A clear written quotation follows, and quotations stay valid for 30 days.
In our own factory in Altrincham. All of the furniture we design is built by hand there by our own team of skilled craftsmen, and we aim to locally source our products and support British manufacturing. Our fitters are employed by Bluebell, so the same team is accountable from design to fitting.
Yes — both workmanship and the furniture we supply (cabinet and doors) are covered by a five-year guarantee, subject to fair wear and tear, and this does not restrict your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Other items such as appliances are covered by their manufacturers’ warranties. The warranty is not insurance backed.
We are based in Sale, Cheshire and cover Cheshire and South Manchester, including Altrincham, Wilmslow, Knutsford, Alderley Edge, Prestbury, Didsbury, Urmston, Whitefield and Bowdon, as well as Manchester itself. If you are nearby and unsure, just ask — we are happy to confirm whether we cover your area.
Every project is different, so we agree a realistic programme at the quotation stage. Design and 3D renders come first, then manufacture in our Altrincham factory, then fitting by our own team. We keep you updated at each stage so you always know where your project stands.
